The Shackleton Symphony

I’m honoured and thrilled to announce a very special recorded performance of the Shackleton Symphony at the private view at my upcoming exhibition, Touching Ice. Composer Paul Frith wrote the symphony for The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra to celebrate the 100 year anniversary of the Endurance Expedition and he will be there on the night to introduce each movement, as the soundtrack is played to a backdrop of Frank Hurley’s incredible expedition photographs.

Paul’s dramatic and emotional work is part of a collaboration with STOP + FIX Publishing and resulted in The Shackleton Collector’s Edition Box Set - a hand-crafted, replica expedition cargo box holding two stunning photographic volumes, a gramophone sleeve containing four 10 inch vinyl records and an MP3 download. Furthermore, the first two hundred and fifty copies of the publication include a replica glass plate negative, similar to those used by Hurley on the expedition.
